A keystone of English literature. It is one of the books that contributed to the emergence of the novel as a literary form in English. A parody of the then popular travel narrative, Gulliver’s Travels combines adventure with savage satire, mocking English customs and the politics of the day.
Illustrated by Rex Whistler, this is the definitive text, based on the 1735 version of the perennially favorite stories concerning Gulliver’s visits to Lilliput and Brobdignag.
Rex Whistler’s extraordinary command of detail and sense of humor are a perfect match for the satirical worlds that Swift created.
